SAFETY & HIRE POLICIES

Every Hall of Duty crate is risk-assessed, safety-checked between deployments and supplied with full eye protection for every operator. These rules and terms apply to all self-hire bookings across North Yorkshire.

01 · RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

  1. 01Safety goggles must be worn at all times inside the play area. Prescription glasses may be worn instead where goggles will not fit over them.
  2. 02Foam darts only. Do not mix in your own blasters, darts or modified equipment — our kit is safety-checked before every hire.
  3. 03Never aim at the head, face or neck. Body shots only.
  4. 04No physical contact, tackling or wrestling. Foam does the fighting.
  5. 05Minimum recommended age is 6 years. Under-8s should play in a supervised, smaller-squad format.
  6. 06A responsible adult (18+) must supervise the play area for the whole session. Hall of Duty staff are not present during self-hire.
  7. 07Do not fire darts at anyone outside the game, at pets, or outside the marked boundary.
  8. 08Clear the area of trip hazards, glass, sharp edges and garden tools before play. Re-check between rounds.
  9. 09Stop play immediately if anyone is hurt, if the ground becomes slippery, or in high winds where inflatable cover could move.
  10. 10Collect darts between rounds — loose darts underfoot are the most common cause of slips.

02 · RISK ASSESSMENT SUMMARY

Reviewed annually and before every equipment change. A full written copy is available on request for venues, schools and community halls that need one on file.

03 · HIRE TERMS

DEPOSIT
A £50 deposit secures your date. The balance is due when you collect the crate. Deposits are non-refundable inside 7 days of the hire date.
HIRE PERIOD
Standard hire is 24 hours — collect the day before where possible, return the day after. Extra days can be added on request.
COLLECTION & DROP-OFF
Collection only as standard — the crate is picked up from and returned to our North Yorkshire HQ. Optional drop-off is available for a fee of 45p per mile from HQ, covering Harrogate, York, Ripon, Northallerton, Thirsk, Skipton and surrounding villages.
CANCELLATION
Cancel or reschedule free of charge up to 7 days before your hire. Inside 7 days the deposit is retained; inside 24 hours the full hire fee applies.
WEATHER
Poor weather is not an automatic refund — the kit works indoors. If you would rather move the date, reschedule free of charge up to 24 hours before your hire.
DAMAGE & LOSS
Fair wear and tear is expected and never charged. Deliberate misuse, lost blasters, torn vests or punctured barriers are charged at replacement cost. Darts are consumable — no charge for lost darts.
SUPERVISION
Self-hire equipment is supplied unmanned. Responsibility for supervision, the suitability of the venue and the conduct of players sits with the hirer from collection until the kit is returned.
INSURANCE
We hold £5m public liability insurance covering our equipment in use. This does not cover injury arising from misuse, unsupervised play or failure to follow the safety rules on this page.
LIABILITY
Nerf play is a physical activity and carries a risk of minor bumps, scrapes and knocks. By hiring you accept that risk on behalf of your participants. We are not liable for damage to clothing or personal property.
AGE POLICY
Recommended ages 6 and over. Adult and mixed-age sessions welcome — the Black Ops Battalion pack is built for teen and adult squads.

04 · HIRER DECLARATION

By booking a crate you confirm you are 18 or over, that you have read the rules of engagement above, that you will brief every player before the first mission, and that a responsible adult will supervise the play area for the duration of the hire.
